The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl was played at the San Francisco AT&T Park. It raised enough money to sponsor more than 20 million meals to Feeding America. The Second Harvest Food Bank in the South Bay is a subsidiary of Feeding America.
Before the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, the University of Nevada and Boston College teams served meals to the needy in San Francisco while dressed in their team jerseys.
The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl took place with a cold temperature of 45 degrees. One meal was donated for every ticket sold and the game was almost sold out in spite of the cold weather.
Feeding America reports that one sixth of all Americans contend with hunger. Feeding America is a charity whose mission is to feed that hungry. It helps in all 50 states and has more that 200 foodbanks nationwide.
The PricewaterhouseCoopers PwC Charitable Foundation has donated $500, 000 to help Feeding America. Their goal is to improve youth education by helping children not to fall behind in their studies due to malnutrition. The PwC Foundation has given more than $1 million for three years in a row.
The Kroger Co. announced that they, together with The Salvation Army and Feeding America will supply free flu shots to thousands of eligible people.
