The Freedom to Read Foundation works closely with the American Library Association.  Judith Krug was the FTRF’s first executive director when it was founded in 1969.  Today, the organization’s newly-elected Board of Trustees members are: Carol Brey-Casiano who serves as the director of libraries at the El Paso, Texas, Public Library.  Prior to this appointment, she was ALA’s president and is now chair of its Committee on Library Advocacy.  Mary Minow, a library law consultant specializing in free speech, privacy and copyright is the chair of the California Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Committee and sits on the Electronic Privacy Information Center board.  James G. Neal serves as Vice President for information services and university librarian at Columbia University.  Kenton Oliver is the executive director of the Stark County, Ohio, District Library and president of the Freedom to Read Foundation.  He was chair of the ALA Intellectual Freedom Committee and has served on its Executive Board.  Judith Platt is director of Freedom to Read & Communications and Public Affairs, at the Association of American Publishers (AAP).  She has previously served two terms as FTRF president.
