Certainly, many people are essential to the running of AmeriCares. The company founders are still actively involved in the company and in all of its many efforts.

The founder and chairman, Robert C. Macauley started AmeriCares in 1982. He founded and served as President of Virginia Fibre Corporation prior to AmeriCares, where he continues to be director. He is also an advisor to the National Executive Service Corps and New York Medical College.

Co-founder of AmeriCares, Alma Jane Macauley, is also the vice chairman of the foundation. For 19 years, she has also been the Executive Director for Friends of Children, a nonprofit foundation that promotes the wellbeing of orphaned, abandoned, sick and injured children. She is also a founding director of Covenant House in Florida and of Good Counsel in New York and
New Jersey.
